Well lookie lookie.With the win tonight, the Yankees are playing .500 baseball.Not only that, but Wil Nieves got a hit! Okay, so he got thrown out at second base trying to make his hit a double instead of a single, but still, A HIT!Congratulations, New York Yankees, say hello to Mediocrity.

In these joints, bones are not directly adjoined but cartilage covers the joints to allow smoother movement. The synovial fluid, that fills the joint cavity covering the joint, sends nutrients to the joint cartilage. If there is no movement, the nutrients will not reach the joints, possibly causing the joint to go bad.

Three: Run the entire race (didn’t happen because of my upset belly.) Four: Run it in 5:45 (didn’t happen, again, probably largely due to the belly.)Normally, my stomach doesn’t bother me at all when I run or race. The only time I’ve had an upset stomach while running was on our last 20 mile training run, and as I was dealing with major endometriosis pain at the time, and had taken a painkiller before the run, I figured those two things combined contributed to my upset stomach. Cute, anyhow, especially when the little kids tried to say it!Kilometre splits and commentary on some of them:1 & 2: 16:15 (missed the first kilometre marker)3: 8:17 (uphill)4: 8:05 (slight uphill)5: 8:03 (slight uphill)6: 7:46 (slight downhill)7: 7:36 (slight downhill)8: 8:04 (fiddling with my first gel)9: 7:41 (feeling good)10: 7:5111: 7:10 (big downhill)12: 7:3913: 8:0014: 8:07 (a little windy here)15: 7:5616: 7:5617: 8:07 (took my second gel)18: 7:5319: 8:26 (strong winds: 20 km/hr with gusts up to 40 km/hr )20: 7:5221: 8:0622: 8:42 (more strong wind )23: 8:31 (still windy)24: 8:54 (stomach starting to bother me )25: 9:26 (stomach not happy)26: 9:36 (stomach not happy)27: 9:51 (stomach REALLY not happy )28: 9:21 (took walk break to try to settle stomach)29: 8:27 (stomach happier after the walk break)30 & 31: 16:38 (missed 30 km mark - had photo and video taken)32: 8:32 (stomach acting up a bit again)33: 8:0534: 7:5735: 8:14 (stomach not letting me run any faster )36: 8:0937: 8:22 (starting to get tired)38: 9:47 (tired and hot - it’s too sunny - where’s my shade? )39: 8:3140: 8:51 (slight uphill right here)41: 8:23 (then a little bit of a downhill - stomach still not terribly happy)42: 8:35 (trying to turn it on, but my stomach didn’t want me going faster)0.2: 1:14Total time (watch): 5:51:18 Chip time: 5:51:11 Clock time: 5:54:09So, I’m happy that I have a new marathon PR, but upset that I didn’t manage to run the entire thing, and didn’t manage that 5:45 I had hoped for.

Northern Iowa at Iowa State (9/8) - The Panthers were one 51-yard field goal away from upsetting the Cyclones last season, and should have an even better chance this year with a team that opens the season on the short list of top national title contenders.I can’t imagine Coach Chizik and the guys would take very kindly to losing to a I-AA team, title contendor status be damned. After all, he looked better last year in the first half against Iowa State just using short passes than anyone I’ve seen in a while. I’ve got to think that having Terry Carroll back in the state of Iowa can only be good for the Iowa JUCO ranks and any possible recruiting targets that ISU may try to pull out of the SE part of the state. The best Iowa State teams in recent years forced turnovers, especially off of the interception.

It’s been nearly a week, and I thought that I would look at the election results in Crawley in more detail, comparing with 2006 and 2004 (all out).I am particularly interested in the overall trends, and I won’t produce the results for all 39 instances.I’ll start Ward by Ward, and then go over the parties at the end.Bewbush2004 - 3 Labour, maj 193/216/2752006 - Labour, maj 1922007 - Labour, maj 374A Safe Labour ward. Surprisingly went Tory in 2004, and they strengthened their position last year, although the main losers in that were the Greens.Furnace Green2004 - 2 Tory, maj 155/3182006 - Tory, maj 5472007 - 2 Tory, maj 524/568Tory ward, although was Labour until the late 1990s. The resignation of Mike Weatherley resulted in an extra seat coming up this year.Gossops Green2004 - 2 Tory, maj 33/472007 - Tory, maj 150Marginal in 2004, when the Tories gained it. No real change in positions, Labour slightly down, Tories up a little since 2004, Lib Dems on pretty much the same.Ifield2004 - 3 Labour, maj 96/100/1912006 - Tory, maj 212007 - Tory, maj 59Marginal. The only real noticeable trend other than that is that the BNP vote is going downLangley Green2004 - 3 Labour, maj 268/303/3522006 - Labour, maj 4062007 - Labour, maj 148Safe Labour seat. The Conservative candidate this year was a Sikh, and reportedly turnout among this group was high.Maidenbower2004 - 3 Tory, maj 682/744/7792006 - Tory, maj 11322007 - Tory, maj 1215Safe Tory seat. Turnout dipped overall this year.Pound Hill N2004 - 3 Tory, maj 778/795/8312006 - Tory, maj 12802007 - Tory, maj 1001Safe Tory. The rest of the drop in Tory majority seems to be down to turnout, which makes sense as this was hardly a seat in question.Pound Hill S and Worth2004 - 3 Tory, maj 707/760/8282006 - Tory, maj 12102007 - Tory, maj 1072Safe Tory.

Its hard living with a smoker because cigarettes are always available for me (yes, I’ve tried getting Ian to deny me cigarettes). So I’m happy to report that I have not been smoking for 10 full days now and I’m really proud of myself.I’m not doing this for anyone (except perhaps my future children and my family and friends of course)…but I’m doing this because I feel like a hypocrit when I puff away on a cigarette, yet I count the amount of servings of vegetables I made sure to eat that same day, along with whether I’ve taken all my vitamins and how many hours of sleep I got the night before, and whether I should go one extra time to the gym this week.

-ne Recently I learned the sad news that my favorite book store in Manhattan, Coliseum Books, is going under. Joyce Carol Oates, according to a recent article (I can’t recall the publication), loves to browse in the mega book chains.I, however, would argue that these independent stores are worth preserving. First of all, for the benefit of the customers, each industry needs small book stores to keep them honest. While used and obscure titles are much more readily available via e-tail, there is a culture of literacy, of sheer of books that the Slate article dismisses. There is value to being in a store where the employees know books and love books.

They claim to have been injured almost every year, in post game riots and on stage, as when Biafra bit off the head of a live wolverine during one show and it bit him back. Biafra claims that that the Wolverines have never actually beaten the Buckeyes and that those who believe otherwise were placed under mind control. Check out their site for more details about their show and the International Wolverine Conspiracy.Some people think the Schembechlers are joking, others take them seriously. I love the Schembechlers because, whether intentionally or not (I’ll let you be the judge), they hold up a fun house mirror to the rabid excesses of the world of college football fandom.Recently, I interviewed Biafra for Penthouse (on newsstands now).

Their are many teams in the league that would like to take a chance on the big winger hoping to get the best out of him and praying that he can stay healthy the only problem is that they arent willing to cough up anything more then a draft pick or worse a player that has the potential to be a career minor leaguer. Antropov collected 12 Goals 19 Assists in 57 games played, if we average that out to a full 82 games its 17 goals 27 assists for a total of 44 points, i know thats not much for a first line winger but Antropov is still only 26 yrs old the same age as Ponikarovsky who in 81 games picked up 21 goals and 17 assists for 38 points, yet we rave how great Ponikarovsky was (deservingly so)and how bad Antropov was, not so if you look at numbers combared over the same amount of games played.

While reading Georges Lefebvre’s 1939 history of The Coming of the French Revolution , I was struck by the uncanny similarities between the French monarchy’s fiscal crisis — the same crisis that destroyed Louis XVI’s government — and the financial problems of the modern United States government. In FY 2006 U.S. tax receipts equalled .18 trillion, over 80% of which came from income and FICA taxes, while outlays equalled .57 trillion. Interest payments on the national debt (10 billion) equalled 8.2% of federal expenditures — well below the French level, but greater than annual federal spending on Medicaid or combined annual federal spending on education, the environment, and foreign aid, and close to half of the United States’ current defense spending (17%).* Finally, median household income in the United States has been stagnant since 1973 and has dropped an average of 2.8% since 2000, while prices have risen 17.5% during the past six years and 365% since 1973.

套一句Kobe最近很喜歡說的話:「Are you kidding me?」 Jason Terry is just a player, a very good player,不需要去計較他的位置,就像我們應該如此看待Marbury一樣。

Andrew Hunt, IIISenior PastorBody of Christ Community ChurchPresident, Community of ONE , CDCahunt57@sbcglobal.netwww.communityofoneindy.orgThat they may be one even as we are one, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.John 17:18-23 “As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. Protection, Purpose, and Perfection are the three things God wants to share with us for the few moments we have together this morning.Protection Jesus starts off by asking His Father for protection for those that God Himself had given Jesus. In His prayer in the 17th chapter of John verse 14th thru 16 Jesus tells God that He as given the people the very Word of God and that because of this, the very world in which they lived has turned against them. The world hates them because they are no longer of this world, just as He is not of this world. They are not longer in this world but, are in Christ Jesus, Eph 2:19-22 says “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.” Yes, they were born into this world, but now they have been “born again” not born of the flesh but born of the very spirit of God. They now share a spiritual birth with Jesus which why He says, they are not of this world, just as I am not of this world. The world hates them because now there has been a transformation in their thinking, they are not conforming anymore to the ways of the world but are being transform by the renewing of their minds as Romans 12:2 tells us. Jesus says do not take them out of the world but protection from the world and the evil one, Satan, that controls it. Satan hates transformation, the world hates transformation, Satan and this world only wants the further deterioration of this world, not transformation. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. They needed to know the truth so that they could be sent back into the world just as Jesus was sent into the world. The world is our mission field, it is our community, it needs to be transformed which is the purpose of our mission and we have be set aside by God Himself to become servants in the service of a Holy God.In the city of Indianapolis there is such a mission, there is such a community, there is such a transformation that is going on and you are a part of it. I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.” PerfectionJesus has asked God for our protection as we pursue our mission of transformation. Then Jesus asks God to prepare us for our mission of transformation by preparing us for the very purpose of our life, which is to be set apart for service unto a Holy God. Our unity, our oneness shows an unbelieving world the God sent Jesus.Jesus says, I’m not asking that you sanctify these with your truth which are before me, but that your also sanctify those who are yet to come, those who are yet to believe in me through their word. Jesus knew that this was an extremely divisive world, a world full of prejudice, competition, lust, selfishness, egotism, angry spirits, pride, hate, and war. A divisive world is always a threat to Christians, but we must remember we are no longer of this world, for we have been born again.

By Joe Davidson - Bee Staff Writer A year ago, Cal ventured to Knoxville, Tenn., to kick-start a football season of promise.  Bears coach Jeff Tedford has maintained this offseason that it took the rest of the country a full two months to recognize the Bears again as something more than just a bunch best known for receiving a Rocky Top throttling. Cal tied for a conference title last fall for the first time since the famed 1975 team, but the Bears wound up back in the Holiday Bowl. After Cal trounced Texas A&M 45-10 — its biggest bowl rout ever — to finish 10-3, Bears star receiver DeSean Jackson proclaimed his crew legitimate BCS contenders in 2007. Nate Longshore, like the rest of the roster, struggled in the Tennessee downer last season, then recovered to produce the second-most passing yards by a Bear in a single season (3,021). As much of a quarterback program as the Bears have been under Tedford, Cal also has produced tailbacks Adimchinobe Echemandu, J.J.

Forbes Travel has a list of adventures that I plan to take on.Historic journeys from the Silk Road to theOrient Express With high-speed trains, fast cars and jumbo jets that can whisk us across time zones in a matter of hours, getting from point A to point B has never been easier (though we all know it’s not hassle-free). Most 21st-century travelers don’t take the entire route, but do it in portions. For thousands of years, travelers have also been lured to the magic of the Nile River. Today, travelers can still cruise down the Nile, just like their British and Roman predecessors did.

Let me be blunt: this journey is not selling me on the idea that the Bible is great literature. When I started, I had the idea that, as a mature reader, I would find a certain stark poetry, a majesty, a kind of alt.beauty in the very prose. And you know? maybe I shall, as we get further and further away from Genesis.This second section of Numbers, though, reads less like a work of literature and more like assorted memos and receipts pulled randomly out of Moses’ file cabinet. It is thick, as has been most of Leviticus and Numbers, with details that were doubtless important to the Israelites and to anyone adhering to the sacrifice system. It’s hard to see much contemporary relevance for this stuff, however.Here are the various topics covered:Numbers 5On God’s command, people who have potentially contagious diseases or who have been around dead bodies are quarantined away from the main area of the camp.In a summary statement that, it seems to me, may sit a little uncomfortably with earlier edicts, God creates a simple system of torts: if one person wrongs another, they must pay back the amount of the wrong plus twenty percent.God tells Moses what the procedure is when a man suspects his wife of infidelity. It is complicated and full of oaths, curses, and ceremony, but it boils down to this: the priest gives the woman a poison to drink that will cause bitter suffering. (24) If she has really been fooling around, it will distend her abdomen and render her sterile. If she is innocent, she’ll be fine. (In case you think that this system is a tad misogynist, you should know that the accusing husband pays a price, too. He must give the priest two quarts of flour as a fee-for-service.)Numbers 6Instructions on how to be a Nazirite. Dietary restrictions for Nazirites. Rules about how a Nazarite should keep his hair, and what sacrificial rituals and hair care procedures are called for should someone die suddenly in the presence of a Nazirite. What to do when a Nazirite is no longer a Nazirite.Oh, what’s a Nazirite? Well, it doesn’t say. It appears to be someone who has taken some kind of temporary or permanent vow of religious service. Like a monk, perhaps? I checked my Oxford Companion to the Bible, which says that no one is sure, but a Nazirite was probably someone who took some kind of temporary or permanent vow of religious service. So, encouraging news about my reading comprehension, but not especially helpful otherwise.God gives Moses a three-line blessing that Aaron and his sons (Aaron and his boys are the priests, remember) are to use to bless the Israelites. He are the first three lines:24 The LORD bless you and keep you;25 the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;26 the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.Hey! I recognize that! That’s the Benediction that the minister always gives at the end of the Presbyterian service — or at least that our minister did, when I was growing up. Even though we weren’t Israelites!Numbers 7The Tabernacle is dedicated. In what may well be the most stultifying book of the Bible, the ceremonial offerings of each of the twelve tribal leaders is enumerated, right down to how many shekels the bowls and plates weighed and how many of each kind of critter was brought. Day after day, each clan leader in turn brings in his offering, and a receipt-like list of the bounty is recited. Except, here’s the thing: all of the offerings are exactly the same. I imagine that this is the point — look! all of the tribes gave exactly the same amount! But it sure makes for some tedious reading.The chapter ends with a helpful summary of the total contribution, which is of course any of the individual contributions multiplied by twelve. It’s like reading Moses’ own ledger.Numbers 8There is a brief passage about getting the Tabernacle lampstands into their correct positions.The Levite tribe, which you may recall was set aside en masse for religious service in Numbers 3, are formally dedicated into their new rule.Numbers 9The Israelites celebrate Passover, but a question comes up about whether people who are ritually unclean should be taking part. Moses, consistently shown as having a direct line to God, says Hang on, Ill ask.” [Actually, "Wait until I find out what the Lord commands concerning you."] God obligingly clarifies the point.Numbers 10God tells Moses to have two special silver trumpets made, to be used in calling assemblies, coordinating mass movements, signalling attacks during warfare, and of course during sacrificial rituals. And now, back to our story!Since Exodus 18 or so — for two years and change for the Israelites, or since early May, in MRTB time — the Israelites have been camped at Mt. Sinai. Moses has been having a lot of conversations with God, and there have been several events in camp, such as the Golden Calf debacle, the building of the Tabernacle, and the census, but we havent really had what you would call a narrative flow.It looks like thats all about to change. I know this partially from the intriguing headings in The Brick Testament, which resumes regular coverage at Numbers 11. But also, in Numbers 9 and 10 the Israelites are basically packing to go. Numbers 9, looking ahead, explains that after the Tabernacle was completed, the presence of God (a cloud by day, fire by night) settled above it. If the presence of God began moving, the Israelites would then strike camp and follow it until it settled in a new location, and set up camp there. If the presence stuck around in a single place for a long time, the camp would settle in; if it moved again a few days later, it was time to hit the road again. Numbers 10 explains in detail which order the various tribes marched in — recall, again, that these little marches involve a couple millions of people — and who was in charge of each division.So, with Mt. Sinai in their metaphorical rear-view mirror, our refugees from Egypt are back on the march:33 So they set out from the mountain of the LORD and traveled for threedays. The ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them during those threedays to find them a place to rest.Are all their troubles over? Will they be able to settle peacefully into their promised land? Im pretty sure not.Next Week: For people with a physical manifestation of God in the middle of their camp, the Israelites sure seem like a skeptical bunch.P.S.: Back to the narrative means back to subjects that painters have historically been interested in, which means we can get some decent blog art going again.link

Course map of the Annapolis 10-mile race, which treats runners to a stroll through downtown Annapolis, the Naval Academy, and the Old Severn River Bridge. I don’t like racing very much, at least not during the race.The day started meeting Stephen Bardsley and his son Joshua at the Stevensville Park & Ride, and cruising to Annapolis to pick up another runner, John from Gaithersburg, and go pick-up packets at the Naval Academy’s Marine Corps Stadium.A year or two ago, Runner’s World voted the A-10 one of the top ten 10-mile races in the United States. People look different when they aren’t running outside in 12 degree weather!Anyway, I stopped at aid stations, used some of my own Gatorade, ran in a trance through most of the middle of the race, then at about mile 7.5, had to duck into the woods as nature called and let me know I would enjoy the rest of the race more with an empty bladder. For full results, visit the Annapolis Striders website and click on 2007 results under the race name.The real race day highlight came as Stephen and his wife Lauren hosted a post A-10 cookout/pool party, complete with a moon-bounce for the kids. Many thanks and mad props to the Bardsley family–the next post race, or for no reason at all, get-together will have to be in Talbot County!A painful, hilly 10-mile race leaves me in an interesting spot for the next couple months of running.

This is all a game and a challenge to Tom while Huck needs to (and does) treat this as reality that has real consequences. Tom uses his authority to determine the impress upon Huck the regulations he could place on people.The regulations that Tom submits to always affect Huck and his following decisions. Tom even says that Huck is not “regular” and uses this standpoint of a white, middle class, male authority to manipulate Huck and the things he does. Huck generally submits to what Tom says, but thinks about it and ways to get around it by saying what he thinks only to be shot down by Tom saying that he (Huck) is uneducated and is inferior to him in many different ways.Tom uses his white, middle class authority to determine right and wrong in each and every situation in addition to the regulations as I said above. For example, in these chapters, Huck borrows the pick-ax, but Tom steals the case-knife. Huck steals the watermelon and Tom says it’s a bad thing to do! This is part of the reason why Tom says it’s wrong for Huck to take the slave’s watermelon but okay to steal a case-knife from their Aunt Sally and Uncle Sirus.Huck says, “Picks is the thing, moral or no moral; He’s very concerned for Jim in these chapters and makes moral decisions based on humanity and helping Jim, for the most part, whereas Tom could care less about Jim, and instead wants adventure. Huck falls far below Tom in the hierarchy, and Nat is behind Huck. Well, Jim is completely silenced in this group of chapters so Huck takes over and has the responsibility to the novel to report what Jim thinks, though that scarcely happens. There is a clear example of this on page 188, in the last line of the first paragraph where Huck says (for Jim), “Jim he couldn’t see no sense in the most of it, but he allowed we was white folks and knowed better than him;
